Gmail’s Newly Launched Emoticons Feature a Pile of Shit

Google - our beloved search engine and the creator of everything that we need on the web to get our day going smooth. Gmail recently launched emoticons for their gmail service and they have added some fun emoticons to set themselves apart from the crowd. One thing that is quite notable is the pile of shit with 2 flies flying around it.So if you are in a shitty mood make use of it and throw shit at someone via email.

Google seems to be rolling out new features day by day these days. After creating Mail Goggles and Canned Response it sure as heck was time for Gmail labs to create something even amazing - a set of emoticons with a pile of shit.

Way to go Google, you never cease to amaze us.

well if you truly want to embody the nature of some e-mails you definitely need that symbol complete with animated flies that buzz around circularly around it.

I don’t know what you were expecting as far as features. Personally I think GMail is fine the way it is. If people want stupid emoticons then they have em. I’m glad to see they have some sense of humor about the whole thing. What…did you want something more ‘powerful’ like Outlook? Shut up whiner.

    It’s another Japan thing.

They’ve had the ice-cream-looking swirly poo on their cell phone emoticon set for years. I’m not sure if it was started before that or not.

It’s starting to bother me that people keep poo pooing on the Gmail labs stuff saying “Google is getting desperate!” This is not Google.. The Labs section is where employees submit stuff they have been working on in their spare time, useful or fun the are not supposed to be considered “features” of Gmail, just what some Google Geek coded over his lunch break

People get really angry at people who write blogs. It’s almost as bad as youtube comments. I don’t necessarily agree with the writer but spewing that much unfounded hate has to be wearying. Also pointing out one minor typo in someones writing does not negate the validity of an argument. Now everyone can feel free to flame me, but I’ll just continue about my business. Not randomly slandering people. I much prefer taking the high ground. Because then I can feel morally superior (which, by the way, is what jerks do when they graduate from ranting at people that they’ve never met.) It’s much more satisfying. Also Dilbert rules.

This is to support emoticons (emoji) that are on Japanese mobile phones. And yes, the poo icon is in every phone. So gmail has to be consistent and support them all if it’s going to support any.

It’s not their fault. (Plus the poo icon comes in handy sometimes.)

Well, they’re cute for me. But they are a little too “square” looking, anyway, the shit is just nice. I hope there will emoticon that can throw shit to somebody lol.

I’m actually a little surprised, as before this point, google has been a really good netizen (ie their emails are multipart, both text and html, and don’t include a text color by default or lots of extraneous spacing and line endings, like outlook does), and hasn’t allowed images in signatures, (much to the chagrin of many corporate users, who like their logos in emails [of course you can paste html images in an email, but who would do that for every message]), and having external html images in the default setup kind of trumps all that cleanliness. Also you won’t see them until you click “click here to show images”

the worst part is you can’t turn it off. I’m running at 1024×768 and that stupid icon makes the formatting bar take up two lines. I used to like gmail because it was fast and had a lot of time-saving features. I hope they keep things in the labs instead of forcing these “updates” on adults.

GMail once was a very fast webmail service. But now there are so many stupid things loaded with it, like GChat and stuff, that it had become a very bloated and slow service.
